Souvenirs From Across the World is a project that one of my very dear friend Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Books came up with! Its all about the blogger community getting to know each other by talking about their country. TO know more about the project click here. To read Marie’s post about France, click here.

I have lived in India my whole life. I lived in Mumbai for 13 years and have been living in Pune for the last 10. I haven’t stepped off this country yet, but that will change within 3 weeks <3. But no matter where I go, home will always be here! There is so much India has to offer and one post will not be enough, but I will try nonetheless.
Facts
- India has the largest postal network in the world with over 1, 55,015 post offices.
- Shampoo was invented in India, not the commercial liquid ones but the method by use of herbs. The word ‘shampoo’ itself has been derived from the Sanskrit word champu, which means to massage.
- In September 2009, India’s ISRO Chandrayaan- 1 using its Moon Mineralogy Mapper detected water on the moon for the first time.
- The father of India’s missile program, APJ Abdul Kalam, had visited Switzerland back in 2006. Upon his arrival, Switzerland declared May 26th as Science Day.
- India is second only to the USA when it comes to speaking English with around 125 million people speaking the language, which is only 10% of our population.
We have everything from beaches to snow covered mountains. Here are few such places:

The beaches looks amazing. Mehrangarh Fort looks awesome. A white structure against the brown background. The Golden Temple too. Seems like a building smack dab in the middle of a busy street. I’ve heard that the country is culturally different from the north to the south. Is that true? Hope I’ll be able to visit India sometime.

The beaches are lovely! The white structure isn’t Mehranghar fort, the other structure is. 🙈 but they are both beautiful on the inside. The Golden Temple is beauty! Yes the culture in almost every state in India is different from each other! Which is why posts like these are hard to do because there is so much to cover

Hi Fadwa! I am so happy you liked the post! I hope you do visit sometime, my country really is a place worth visiting. You would love Kerela and Goa and Mumbai and just so many other coastal regions in India. For history – Rajasthan is the best! Its filled with forts and what not. Delhi is another amazing place to visit for History. In fact, come to think of it, almost every state has something to offer in terms of History.

I love how India is so full of different cultures within their own people. It’s like visiting lots of countries in one?! There are all these different languages and foods and places… I’m in love!
Those religious buildings look even more stunning. I’m a bit obsessed with knowing about other people’s religions and I’m glad to know everyone is welcomed in India.
Thank you a lot for sharing! ❤

Hi Lais!
Yes India is like a sub continent in its own right. Every state, hell every city, has something different about it! The culture, the food, the language…everything. Mumbai and Pune are just 3 hours away from each other in the same state and yet there is a huge difference in the way people live in both cities.
The temples look even better up close! With all the details in the architecture, its so easy to get lost in all the carvings ❤
Absolutely everyone is welcome here! ❤
